Kale crisps

The easiest kale crisps ever!

The easiest kale crisps ever!

The first time I made these I was really surprised how crisp they get and how satisfying they are! They really provide a perfect alternative to normal crisps and can be made in less than 30 minutes with hardly any work at all.

You can season the kale with whatever other spices you like, e.g. chilli flakes, garlic powder, ras el hanout but I prefer to just salt them which I find reminds me most of normal crisps.

Time: 30 minutes

Makes: a big bowl

 Ingredients

  • Approx 125g kale

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • A sprinkling of salt, about 1/2 a teaspoon I find is ample and you can add more to taste at the end

 Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 150c/130c fan/ gas 2 and line a baking tray with baking parchment.

  2. Rinse the kale and pat dry.

  3. Break up any very big leaves and cut out any really tough thick stems

  4. Toss the kale in a tablespoon of olive oil and sprinkle with salt.

  5. Spread on the baking tray in a single layer, ensuring the kale is not crowded.

  6. Bake for 20 minutes at which point the leaves should still be green but some may be browning and they should be crisp. If they are still soft you can bake a little longer.

  7. Leave to cool, season further with more salt if you like then munch away!
